When Claude "Claudehead" Chitlik was found near
Bardstown Kentucky, in December, 1990, she was a tiny cold, wet ball of fur and we assume
she'd been abandoned that day.
Here are some of the first photos ever taken of her,
including documentation of her being given milk. (Bad idea, by the way.)

Claude left for several days in July of 1991, setting off a
neighborhood-wide search that included the posting of photocopied fliers on dozens of
phone poles. Here she looks at one of the fliers herself.
She eventually began to hang around her "dad" enough that Diet
Coke became an important element in her diet. She seemed mostly interested in the boxes,
though.
Claude quickly learned that Reading is Fundamental. And reading the phone
books became one of her favorite pastimes so she could call all of her cool cat friends
and order from various catalogs.
Claude -- not known for her ability to work and play well with others --
did have a sister "Pickle" (above right) for a while.
Sadly, Pickle met an untimely death at the hands of an automobile in the spring of 1993.
